You want to wear your Vintage Glasses as Vintage Sunglasses?
As sunglasses could only be bought at opticians’ in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, this question did not really come up for many eyewear manufacturers at that time. This enabled a smooth transition from glasses to sunglasses.
Designers and producers made sure that frames could also be glazed as sunglasses. Great importance was also attached to the fact that sunglasses could also be replaced by prescription lenses.
Our opticians have also often turned vintage glasses into vintage sunglasses.
When referring to vintage glasses, we mean a frame which is still equipped with the original demo lenses. Other than to demonstrate how a frame works with appropriate glazing, the demo lenses actually have no function.
As they are designed to be easily replaced (as already mentioned), demo lenses are often very thin and scratch easily.
As some fashion fans nowadays use the old eyewear, including demo lenses, as an accessory for an authentic vintage outfit, we always try to deliver the old demo lenses, even if they were not actually produced for this purpose.
