Men's eyewear expands the Tag Heuer range of its avant-garde accessories.

Surprisingly, Tag Heuer eyewear has only been around since 2002, although the company's history dates back to 1860. Back then, Edouard Heuer founded the company to create sophisticated watches for an entire generation. Thus, the brand name is composed of "Techniques d'Avant Gard" (TAG) and the founder's last name “Heuer”.

In 1999, the French luxury goods manufacturer LVMH took over the company and, based on the reputation of the avant-garde luxury watches, expanded the range to include a no less sophisticated eyewear collection.

Tag Heuer men's sunglasses - resilient like a Formula 1 tire

The first Tag Heuer glasses were produced in Morez - the France eyewear center. Their design was primarily function-oriented. At the same time, however, it embodied sporty elegance in line with the company's credo.

Therefore, Tag Heuer relied on extraordinary materials from the very beginning. Thus, not only titanium glasses and glasses made of carbon, which were oriented towards racing, were produced, but also innovative sunglasses made of various elastomers. These are plastics that deform under pressure or tension, but return to their original shape after stress. Elastomers are rubber-elastic and are used, for example, for the tires of racing cars.

Eyewear with exotic leather and perfect functionality

In 2006, the leather “L-Type Eyewear” collection appeared, continuing the orientation towards racing. L-Type stands for "Leather-Type", as the collection combines alligator leather from Louisiana with perforated calf or python leather. In addition, all metal components are platinum or ceramic coated.

The L-Type eyewear adds glamour to Tag Heuer's sporting spirit. The casual, laid-back lifestyle is thus enhanced by a touch of luxury. Also in this eyewear collection, Tag Heuer is particularly oriented to the innovations from Formula 1 tires to optimize the pliability and durability of the temples.

All Tag Heuer L-Type glasses are also provided with an individual number.

Tag Heuer rimless eyewear wins awards for innovation and design

Inspired by the design of racing cars, Tag Heuer develops the rimless C-Flex frames. In 2008, these models win the coveted Silmo d'Or, in the "Innovation in Frame Technology" category, thanks to their auto-adjustable temples made of carbon.

In 2010, Tag Heuer then amazes with an ingenious hinge design called 27°Optik. The name is derived from the 27° angle at which the temples fold in. The Tag Heuer 27° AIR sports eyewear is awarded accordingly.

Also in 2010, Tag Heuer presents a rimless pair of glasses whose temples open automatically. These glasses can be put on with just one hand when driving, offering greater comfort and safety. In addition, the straight temples are covered with elastomer so that the glasses do not slip.

Tag Heuer Sunglasses for Outdoor Activities

In the following years, Tag Heuer extends its innovations to other eyewear collections. The new TAG Heuer Avant-Garde 27° series, launched in 2011, is ideal for all outdoor activities.

Interchangeable lenses with different lens tints are of particular interest to skiers, sailors, golfers and cyclists.

In addition, Tag Heuer reinforces its image as a fast-paced sports eyewear brand with a temple hinge that resembles a watch strap. The Tag Heuer eyewear "with the temple like a wristwatch" becomes the flagship for the entire TAG Heuer Avant-Garde eyewear production.

2016 - Tag Heuer eyewear becomes vintage eyewear

This year, LVMH terminates its collaboration with the French Groupe Logo, which until then produced all Tag Heuer eyewear and sunglasses. As a result, a collector's market is developing, as the sporty designer glasses continue to be very popular with the predominantly male customers.
