This shape was intentionally developed for pilots to protect them in the best possible way from the intense solar radiation in great heights. Therefore, the tear drop shape covers the whole eye area and is tightly positioned on the face, to prevent direct sunlight from reaching the pupil. Ray Ban is known as the creator of "Aviator glasses" which have become famous not only for their functional features, but also for their design and image.
