Alpina, the German traditional brand which is produced near Augsburg, Germany, thanks its fame its legendary Model M1. The Alpina M1 is a giant model which was produced and sold in the 80s innumerable times and reached cult status before it even hit the stores. The price for an original Alpina M1 was accordingly high. An absolute must for connoisseurs and sunglass lovers is the engraved inscription "Handmade in West Germany" which is located on the inside of all originals. You can purchase authentic Alpina M1s in two different sizes 60/12 and 64/12 in our store. Naturally, only as long as they are not sold out!

Dior

One may barely believe it, but in the 70s and 80s, Dior was one of the leading brands of the ocular optics. Hence, the variety of different Dior models at that time was huge. Due to the extravagant design and the gigantic form, the sunglasses were extremely popular especially within the ranks of the celebrities. This did not change: VIPs like Paris Hilton love and wear particularly the old Dior models from the 80s. Of course, they are not always easy to find, but if you are lucky, you'll find a special choice of the best Dior models of the 70s and 80s on our webpage.

Accordingly, throughout the decades, Jaguar developed suitable accessories which were set to match their expensive deluxe state coaches. The results were sunglasses of unmistakable aesthetics which are rarely to be found nowadays. Vintage-sunglasses-shop.com offers you, as long as the supplies last, these British originals from the good old times.

Porsche

Porsche sunglasses are a true synonym for the 80s.
At that time the models 5623 and 5621 sold a million times and have not even lost a bit of its value 25 years later. The system of replaceable lenses found wide enthusiasm to the extent that people back then saved up their money to be able to afford a pair of Porsche sunglasses for about 700.00 Deutsche Mark.
Another model became world-famous by Yoko Ono (the wife of John Lennon) when she appeared with the model 5620 at a press conference and caused with the unconventional sunglasses big sensation.
You find the original 5620 as well as 5621, 5622 (folding models) and 5623 in our shop as long as we still have them.

Ray Ban

Ray Ban with its pilot formed sunglasses is the aviators of the field.
At the time of the Second World War, the American military asked Bausch & Lomb to develop solar protection glasses that would protect the pilots in every flight position from solar irradiation. The result was the legendary pilot's form with the unique B&L (Bausch & Lomb) lenses.

Ever since then, Ray Ban sunglasses logically seem to belong to every American hero. Marlon Brando, James Dean, Tom Cruise and Will Smith are only a few of them to mention. Other Hollywood stars unknowingly promoted through various films other Ray Ban models.

Here are some examples:

In the official film poster of "The Blues Brothers", you can see John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd wearing the Ray Ban Wayfarer I. The results was that the black Wayfarer sold a million times. Another Ray Ban Model (Olympian I De Luxe) was worn by Peter Fonda in the famous movie "Easy Rider".

Another interesting fact is that Ray Ban developed various special editions for special occasions. One example is the 1992 Olympics, when Ray Ban was the official sponsor of the American Olympic-Team in Barcelona, Spain.

You find all the above-mentioned models in our category "Ray Ban".

Cazal

Cazal, the brand name, was created as a combination of the first letters of its designer's name: Cari Zalloni. In the 80s he created his own style of glasses which stands meanwhile for extravagance and quality at the highest level. 25 years ago he gained dubious fame in the USA when two people were killed for one of his popular models. The Cazal 607 is one of those precious models since it was a steady component of the American Hip-Hop scene in the 80s. One good example: the Band Run DMC wore this model at numerous appearances and are pictured with them on various record covers. Even the book "Back in the days" written by Jamel Shabazz describes in detail the American Hip-Hop culture of that time and offers countless pictures of the Cazal 607.

Cari Zalloni himself wore a Cazal 163.

A lot of celebrities still dress up with a Cazal made in "W.Germany". The inscription "Made in West Germany" is of utter importance; if you wish to make sure that you are buying and/or possess originals. Various models were reproduced and appeared on the market after the reunification of Germany. Only the "First Editions" carry the label "Made in West Germany" and remind us that before the decades before the 90s Germany was divided.

Sunglasses lovers can discover throughout numerous tabloids, Hollywood films and music videos the legendary Cazal sunglasses.

Here are a few examples:
Pamela Anderson – Cazal 955;
Victoria Beckham – Cazal 856;
MC Hammer – Cazal 858 (Video "Cant touch this");
Michael Jackson – Cazal 623 (Video "Bad");
Brittany Murphy – Cazal 858 (Film "Spun").

You can find all of these glasses in our store.

Colani

Extravagance is the word that best describes the design of Luigi Colani. The Berliner by birth made a name for himself through his unusual forms in nearly all areas of life. From automobile design to furniture design up to the design for high-capacity airplanes, Luigi Colani placed his stamp almost everywhere and is easily find. Even his design for entertainment electronics was so stunning that his styled ergonomic Canon reflex camera is exhibited in the New York museum of Modern Art.
Not only the design but also the suitable prices of his artistic glasses are simply overwhelming. 20 years ago, one could hardly get an original Colani frame for less than 1,000 Deutsche Mark. You find these unique specimens for a fraction of the price at our store.

Carrera & Boeing

Carrera, the sports brand of eyeglasses, was created in 1953 in Traun (Austria) and named after the legendary Mexican motor race "Carrera Panamericana". Ever since, Carrera has developed innumerable sunglasses for various kinds of sports which captivate equally through their innovation and design. A special series of eyeglasses presented in the 80`s, when the enterprise collaborated with the airplane manufacturer Boeing, was the so called "Boeing Collection Design by Carrera".

The "Boeing Collection Design by Carrera" was characterised by enormously durable materials, powerful design and perfect processing. The price for a pair of glasses of the limited Boeing models was accordingly high. But they seem to be manufactured for eternity. If you are looking for sunglasses that easily survive several summers and sports activities at the same time, have a look at our category "Carrera & Boeing".

Persol

Persol was and is known for its unusual high quality of the lenses (like Zeiss).
But it was not only the incredible lenses that made Persol sunglasses prestige objects, the Meflecto patent, an invention of the year 1938, made a huge contribution to the success of the Italian enterprise. The Meflecto system made the production of adaptable hangers possible; hangers who adapt to the anatomy of the face automatically.
Persol managed the worldwide breakthrough with the indescribable sunglasses from the Ratti manufacture. It did not take long until Hollywood stars like Steve McQueen were seen with the Persol-Ratti models. Besides, Steve McQueen ("Bullit") counts among the biggest Persol fans. The Persol Ratti folding model 714 and the Persol Ratti 649 reached also fame through his high interest. You will find both models in our shop.

Silhouette

Silhouette stands like no other brand for the glorious glasses time "Made in Austria" of the 80s. However, already in the beginning of the 70s, Silhouette reaches unforgotten fame through the Futura Series. The Futura Series appears even then in a limited edition and is due to strong colors and gigantic forms rather for collectors and lovers than for the everyday use. That's why the Futura is included in the catalog of the worlds most beautiful glasses. Nowadays one can admire the original Futura Series sunglasses (in particular in unused state), only in museums, colleges or on www.vintage-sunglasses-shop.com.

If you have ever worn a pair of Zeiss sunglasses, you will definitely confirm that the quality is incomparable. The demand is high and the supplies. Therefore it goes without saying that it was hard for us to track down a few of these rare high-class products for you. Luckily, you find a small choice in our category "Zeiss".

Christian LaCroix

Christian LaCroix is a name that you identify rather with fashion than with optics. Still we integrated this label with pleasure in our shop: Christian LaCroix unique design in the style of Rococo differs from all other brands. This uniqueness and individuality can be described best of all with the own words of Christian Lacroix: "My fashion should be more than only the wish to carry a logo at the backside of a shirt - it should be an expression of the personal lifestyle and a contribution to find the true self."

Lacoste

Lacoste stands for a discreet design and the understatement of the 80s. That is exactly the reason why the model 101 became a classic. Consciously unobtrusively, but with the price and the quality of a noble brand, Lacoste made itself an incomparable name with their seemingly simple sunglasses back then. Nowadays, unfortunately, Lacoste hardly produces sunglasses, so that the old originals are more valuable than ever. You find the model 101 in our shop even in several colors and sometimes even in precious special Editions.

Paloma Picasso

Paloma Picasso is one of the brands which was established in the famous Optyl Epoch in the end of the 80s and in the beginning of the 90s. Optyl is a material that apparently never seems to grow old. Even after using a pair of Optyl glasses for 20 years, one can barely see used tracks; and, after a short polishing, the glasses appear to be brand new. Big names belonged to the customers of the legendary Optyl manufacturers back in the Optyl Epoch: Dior, Playboy, Cobra and Carrera are only some known examples.

Ferrari

Literally, the legend of Ferrari needs no words or description. However, the fascinating success story behind Enzo Ferrari does merit some special attention.

Back in the late 20s, Enzo Ferrari led the Italian race team "Scuderia Ferrari" (scuderia = racing stable/team), which successfully won car races as the pit crew for Alfa Romeo.

After WWII, Enzo Ferrari started producing automobiles for the first time, in order to finance further car races. Already back then, they used the present legendary logo of the rearing stallion.

The designer Pininfarina, who created the unique sunglasses collection for Persol, was also responsible for the exquisite Ferrari design and style, which propelled these sunglasses to luxury and status symbols among the rich, famous, and beautiful.

As time passed, an empire quickly merged in Ferrari`s hometown, Maranello. Step-by-step, a vast range of luxury accessories, like the Ferrari sunglass label, were produced here.

You will find the best Ferrari models out of the 80s and 90s at Vintage-Sunglasses.de, which you can conveniently purchased unused and in their original state of condition.
